Description

A joint seminar of the Department of Greece and Rome at the British Museum and the Institute of Classical Studies

The seminar series, organised jointly by the ICS and Department of Greece and Rome at the British Museum, takes place in the context of the planned redesign of the British Museum’s ‘Western Range’, including all the galleries devoted to the ancient Mediterranean world. The seminar is designed as an open forum for the discussion of the British Museum’s collections: for the reassessment of individual monuments or objects; thematic approaches; explorations of collection history; or for wider questions of ‘narrative’ and the interconnections between cultures. The format of sessions will vary from individual or paired research papers to short workshops or panel debates.
